Abstract: Indonesia has a big potential in marine transportation especially in container transportation in order to support the country’s economic growth. Those activities are still centralized at Port of Tanjung Priok, therefore the government is planning the construction of International Port of Cilamaya to fulfill the needs of container distribution which keeps increasing every year. Unfortunately, the construction has several problems related to safety and oil and gas production which caused the port construction planned location to be moved to the six nominated location, one of them being Cirebon, West Java. In this final assignment, several alternatives port site location will be determined based on area availability analysis as a reference for the construction of container port in Cirebon which is nominated as a substitute for the port of Cilamaya. From those port site location alternatives, the best location will be determined by considering the aspect of location compatibility with maximum current velocity and maximum wave height based on the result of 2D modeling by using the SMS 8.1 software, the needs of dredger, area availability, accessibility, the needs of turning basin, and intersection angle of navigation channel. After those seven aspects have been analysed, the best site location for the construction of Cirebon Container Port has been determined, which is located in coordinate 6°45’27.71″S and 108°43’18.78″E. The planning of container port layout design is performed in the determined site location.
