ABSTRACT
This thesis aims to obtain feasible upending scenario based on GL Noble Denton 0028 / ND “Guidelines
for the Transportation and Installation of Steel Jackets” criteria and compare the technical terms for the 3
upending methods these are controlled ballasting, tandem crane upend, and controlled ballasting – crane
assisted which is a combination of the two previous methods. Before upending analysis conducted, first the
structure to be declared eligible to be constructed and meet the service life design, 20 years, based on
American Petroleum Institute “Recommended Practice for Planning, Designing and Constructing Fixed
Offshore Platforms” (API RP2A) with in place analysis and fatigue analysis. Buoyancy tank flooding
scheme provide upending force for controlled ballasting upending method. For tandem crane method, no
flooding scheme but 2 hook crane used to provide upending force and take the weight of the jacket. On
controlled ballasting-crane assisted method, buoyancy tank dominate on providing upending force because
hook crane to be maintained in minimum load. The results shows all of 3 method possibly to be conducted
based on DNV GL Noble Denton No. 0028/ND criteria.
